The MSN in Venice has nothing to do with Redmond. Located in a palazzo on the Grand Canal, it has a very well displayed and lighted collection. There is a dinosaur from Niger collected in the 1970's; painted footprints on the street help you to find the museum in the ever-complicated streets of Venice.
Several rooms contain material from an expedition up the Nile in the mid 1800's; the floor of one room features a blowup of the expedition's map.
Another set of rooms showcases another Italian explorer's collection of African wildlife; the ceilings show the typical Venitian wooden beams. Decorative windows overlook the canal and courtyards, but the well lit display cases mean that a rainy day does not hide the material.
Highly reecomended for the long term visitor.
