Happy holidays at our favorite tapas bar

We spent Christmas and New Years in Madrid, at the Posado del Dragon in the center of this map of Madrid.  We spent a day at Segovia; the bus route goes off the map to the NW.  We spent three days in Barcelona; the train goes off the map to the NE (and goes through several tunnels which wipe out the GPS signal).  Map base from OpenStreetMap; symbolization from MICRODEM.

The Roman aqueduct in Segovia.

The fortress overlooking the harbor at Barcelona.

Our walking routes in central Madrid.  We took the subway only to the airport, the train station, and the bus station in the NW corner of the map.  OpenStreetMap data; tracks from the Garmin  Forerunner 45.  Posado del Dragon at the center of the routes, just off Plaza Major.

Plaza Major for the holidays.

Bank of Spain.

We had wonderful weather the entire time.  This was a 5 PM break at a sidewalk cafe.

New Year's eve dinner at the hotel, with the compliementary dress up kit.

For the ball drop at midnight, they cleared out the front room, and projected Spanish TV which was broadcasting from one of the big squares a 15 minute walk away.  We participated in the 12 grapes ritual--each one for each number in the countdown, and get good luck each month of the New Year.  We did not learn about the red undies tradition until later.
