Flood Engineering the Streets

Door Dams
San Marco.  The glass dams minimize the visual disruption.  For small floods, the low metal dam allows the walkway to go over the door dam.

187 cm is the height of the last "bad" high water in 2019.  This door has no door dams, but  Mose might mean this street is high enough.

Elevated walk ways

Places to sit or enjoy street food are rare in Venice.  Prepositioned elevated walkways have uses even during low water.

And the street artist and his god can also take advantage.

Sunset on Rialto Bridge

Wall to wall people lining the side of the bridge with the better view.

Making way to the top on the central stairway line with shops, and moving to the side stairway still line with people.   Selfies, significant other taking a shot.......

Short wait, and I'm at the railing with a clear view of the Grand Canal.

Holiday Baking on Sale in the Stores

A friend directed us to the best pasty shop in Venice, open since 1956. https://dalnonocolussi.company.site/

But almost all stores with food, wine, bread, or pastries have wrapped holiday baked products.  Even the grocery stores.
